Curious about machine knitting but not sure where to start? This 3-hour taster is a focused, hands-on introduction to domestic machine knitting with Lorena of Loré Loré at Thread Den, Fitzroy.
You'll work through casting on, colour stripes, tuck stitches, eyelets, lace and welting, and finish with a simple cast-off. All machines and materials are provided. You'll leave with a technique swatch documenting everything from the session and a solid foundation to build on.
This taster covers the same core techniques as the 6-hour Beginner Beanie workshop, with the focus on exploration rather than completing a finished piece. It suits anyone who wants a shorter entry point into machine knitting, or who'd like to get comfortable with the machine before committing to a longer session.
From here, a natural next step is the Patterning Workshop or the Christmas Stocking Workshop.
“This taster workshop is the perfect way to jump straight onto the machine and start exploring essential techniques that form the foundation of machine knitting. Everything you learn can be applied across different machine models, giving you the confidence to continue experimenting and creating at home.”
